Everybody knows gelatin. But do you know how gelatin is produced?
The gelatins we produce at Halal Gelatin® Functional Ingredients are obtained by means of partial hydrolysis of collagen. Collagen is a raw material of natural origin, found mainly in pig skins, bovine hides and bovine bones. Collagen is naturally insoluble, whereas the gelatin resulting from the process of partial hydrolysis is soluble in warm water. This multi-stage process is complex and requires a high degree of control.
